Lakebream Fisheries Limited is a pioneering, fully vertically integrated aquaculture company located in Lisori beach of Got-Kachola Ward, Nyatike Sub-County, Migori County in the Republic of Kenya.

Founded in 2023 and operational in 2025, Lakebream Fisheries Limited focuses on sustainable and eco-friendly fish farming, aiming to establish a sustainable end-to-end, industrial-scale fresh tilapia fish farm in the pristine offshore waters of Lake Victoria.

The Company provides a variety of high-quality, sustainable fish farming products and services designed to cater or the local consumers, businesses, and community stakeholders. These offerings focus on delivering fresh, responsibly farmed native fish species through innovative offshore cage farming techniques while promoting environmental stewardship. Additionally, Lakebream Fisheries Limited’s focus on community engagement, training and support initiative programs, especially empowering women and youths in aquaculture, strengthens local capacity and fosters community support – key social factors that enhance business sustainability. This inclusive approach also taps into local labour resources, potentially lowering operational costs and supporting economic development. Our commitment extends to building a hub of future aquaculture experts through offering avenues for experiential educational experience and mentoring of young professionals in aquaculture.

The Kenyan aquaculture sector plays a crucial role in improving food security and driving economic growth for local communities. However, it faces several challenges, including a lack of adequate training, limited capacity development, and the slow integration of advanced technologies. These issues hinder the sector’s potential to create employment opportunities and improve the well-being of the youthful workforce.

In keeping with our corporate mission and in recognition of the critical need to support Kenyan youth with meaningful employment and work exposure, Lakebream Fisheries has developed an experiential educational and market oriented internship programme.

The internship programme under Lakebream Fisheries Limited is designed to equip the next generation of industry leaders with practical experience in aquaculture, helping them to gain hands-on experience in aquaculture farm management. The programme addresses key challenges in aquaculture training, such as limited practical experience, skill gaps, and the inability to commercialise technological advancements in fish production.

With the understanding that today’s graduates often struggle to gain meaningful industry-centric work experience and the desire to contribute to the knowledge gap in the aquaculture sector, through intentional learning objectives, Lakebream Fisheries presents  an opportunity that will help to develop and equip the next generation of aquaculture industry leaders, well-trained technically and with adequate business skills. The well-coordinated internship programme, crafted to bridge the gap between academic training and practical demands of the Kenya’s aquaculture sector, will provide participants with real-world exposure, mentoring, and applied learning in a professional and busy aquaculture environment.

By participating in this internship programme, fresh graduates will acquire knowledge and skills that support the sustainable intensification and diversification of aquaculture, using climate-smart, resilient technologies and best management practices. These include innovative culture systems, management, breeding and genetics in fish farming, demand-driven nutrition and feed, biosecurity and health management, post-harvest loss reduction, value addition, aquaculture data analysis and sales and  marketing.

This internship programme presents an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates to translate academic knowledge into hands-on work experience, improve their competencies, and enhance their employability in an increasingly competitive job market. It provides a structured learning platform in key administrative and technical departments of the Company, ensuring professional growth while contributing meaningfully to the development goals of the Company. The Company is looking for dynamic, motivated, and talented individuals who wish to gain hands-on experience in a professional work environment.
