Research Development Opportunities at Lakebream Fisheries Limited

Lakebream Fisheries Limited wishes to create a long lasting and sustainable impact in the community. We embrace meaningful collaborative initiatives with other stakeholders and partners to ensure that our programmes achieve the intended outcomes. Research and development is a critical component of our project and we wish to jointly share positive impact stories. The fisheries and aquaculture sector requires targeted research development and promotion of activities that are targeted at improving the production outputs, sustainable development and efficient utilization of the natural resources while giving considerable attention to community participation and environmental stewardship. We are seeking to partner with both private and public research institutions to develop and execute research programmes that will help us realize our research and development goals – alleviate food and nutritional poverty among communities, create sustainable economic development in societies where we work in, support and participate in sustainable fisheries research initiatives for better fisheries management, engage in sustainable fish production as a gateway to food security and positive nutritional outcomes, conserve the environment both for the present and future generations, develop sustainable aqua feeds that will help fish farmers realize better fish growth performance, develop better fish breeds that will grow faster and reduce the culture period significantly hence shorter return-on-investment for the farmer, support smallholder fish farmers and youths in optimizing their potential in aquaculture and develop efficient technologies and innovations to curb various hurdles in the aquaculture sector.

With our state-of-art aquaculture facilities, we target research students who may wish to conduct their research studies, thesis and dissertation experiments and achieve hands-on experience and training on sustainable aquaculture development and related areas in Lake Victoria. This further presents opportunities for research students, researchers and institutions with interests in environmental studies, natural resource management, policy development and research around natural resources, socio-economic studies and research, aquaculture systems development and research, among other areas, to explore the wealth of facilities we have to offer.Our well-equipped training facility offers a serine and scenic learning atmosphere within the farm set-up. Farmers have an opportunity to access hands-on training. We have partnered with highly resourceful and experienced farmers’ training institutions and facilitators to conduct field-based training services.
